At the Wellington Lions we drive high standards and a desire to win. The nature of the Mitre 10 competition creates a competitive and pressurised environment to which the applicant will be exposed gradually depending on understanding and speed of learning. The role starts in June allowing for a buffer time during which the applicant will be expected to familiarise with the Key responsibilities for the campaign.

Role Description:

Enable coaches and players with the tools needed to operate at their maximum potential through the use of the performance analysis resources


June – November


Working hours are flexible to fit around team training schedule (25-35 pw). Due to the nature of professional sport weekend and evening work will be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist staff and players in the use and understanding of performance analysis resources
  • Film and coding trainings and performances
  • Databasing and sharing of footage
  • Post game coding
  • Producing weekly analysis outputs
  • Packaging footage for previews


Training and upskilling will be provided but the candidate should show an understanding of:

  • Good working knowledge operating Apple Mac, IOS and relevant software
  • Ability to film high quality footage for performance analysis use
  • Previous experience using Sportscode software is desirable but not indispensable

Skills and Qualifications

  • Has completed or is working towards a degree in Sport Performance Analysis or related subject
  • Excellent IT Skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Keynote)
  • Good knowledge of Rugby and it structures
