Role Title: Insight Analysis / England Rugby MSc Placement – EPS Data and England Rugby Programme Support


Location: Insight Office – Bath (Given current government guidelines and in line with current University placement policies, it is envisaged that this placement will be delivered remotely to begin with).



To offer an applied learning experience in an elite sporting environment that compliments the

theory underpinning an MSc Performance Analysis Degree.

Student requirements:

·       Experience and understanding of performance analysis processes with a minimum of 1 year applied experience

·       Commitment to attend and complete the MSc at Middlesex University at Allianz Park (a blended learning approach to learning will be utilised i.e. online and face to face)

Placement details

Placement with Insight Analysis supporting England Rugby

Core applied placement days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. Max 28 hours per week (at Insight Office, Bath)

Core teaching day: Wednesday (both online and at Allianz Park, London, NW4 1RL).

Remuneration – Up to £9,200 sponsorship of course fees for the MSc in Sport Performance Analysis, co-funded between Insight Analysis and Middlesex University.

End Date: 30th June 2021


As part of an ongoing relationship with Middlesex University, Insight Analysis are offering a placement opportunity to work under the guidance of senior analysts embedded within the RFU/England Rugby. This placement will provide the successful applicant with a rare opportunity to develop their technical and non-technical skills in an elite applied setting (no more than 28 hours per week from September to June), whilst completing their MSc on a Full-Time basis. In addition, formal and informal CPD opportunities will be provided to suitable candidates at regular stages throughout the season, designed to align and assist with course assignments and requirements.

Key Roles and Responsibilities will include:


Weekly support with the collection and analysis of unique Data Sets / KPI’s for the RFU on England Elite Playing Squad players, to aid with player monitoring.
Support of Men’s Senior team analysts with bespoke performance projects as directed / time allows.
Support of Men’s pathway analysis team with performance projects (including match and training analysis) as directed / time allows.
Under the guidance of the Data Lead & Senior Analysts maintain the upkeep of senior analysis server and filing system.
Regular, ongoing CPD opportunities to learn how performance analysis is embedded within the coaching process utilized within both professional rugby and a number of other elite sports.
The successful candidate can apply to use the data they collect (subject to RFU approval) for research project and dissertation purposes, with the aim for them to produce work which adds real value to the governing body and sport.
