An opportunity has arisen for the 2019-2020 season with Harlequins Rugby Club.

We require a volunteer analyst at Harlequins.

It is preferable that the volunteer is enrolled in a Masters Performance Analysis degree. However, candidates undertaking a BSc Performance Analysis degree will also be considered.

Duties will include:

Filming of Training sessions 2 days a week, usually Tuesdays & Wednesdays (At Surrey Sports Park, Guildford, Surrey).
Assist with setup/filming on home match days (At the Stoop, Twickenham).
Weekend work – Assist with post match analysis of 1st team (remotely).
Assist with the coding & upload of training sessions.
Assist our Academy Analyst in full analysis of our A League matches, Home & Away (Approx 10 matches in the season, usually taking place on Monday nights).

For the Tuesday and Wednesday training sessions, the analyst will be required to be flexible, as the sessions can be moved around throughout the day/ or to alternate days. However, the analyst will never be expected to attend if it affects their commitments to their University commitments.

When necessary, for away A League matches the analyst will be able to travel with the team, from Surrey Sports Park.

Once the analyst’s duties are finished, they will be under no obligation to remain at the training ground. However, they will be welcome to do so if they wish to gain more exposure to the environment. A Macbook with Sportscode Elite will be provided to the analyst, and they will be expected to bring this to all sessions/matches. There will also be the prospect of applied side projects, which will allow the student to have creative licence to assist the team, and can be aligned to the project and dissertation requirements within their University programme.

Other Requirements:

Good timekeeping and communication skills are very important to the role.
Knowledge/experience of Sportscode would be beneficial, but not essential.
Ability to work as part of a team, in a professional manner.
Any prior experience of working in a sports team/ analysis role would be beneficial.

There will be opportunities for the volunteer to use the placement to gather data, and perform analysis, that facilitates the completion of the Masters, and assists the staff at Harlequins.

Other opportunities may arise throughout the season, and moving forward, depending upon the competence and development of the volunteer.

No expenses/renumeration will be provided for the role.

The placement will begin towards the end of August, leading into our first Premiership match in September/August, and will run until the end of the season in May 2019.
