Ensure Man City and Emerging Talent loan players’ individual development plans are informed by reliable technical insights and; their progress and performance is consistently supported with actionable insights.

Drive the delivery of Group performance strategy focused on enabling CFG Clubs to consistently create actionable technical and tactical insights for coaches & players aligned to context specific ‘What it takes to perform’ models. Assure good performance analysis practices throughout CFG’s Clubs.

Support clubs to develop and implement their own ‘What it takes to perform’ models.

Role specific accountabilities:
1-Emerging Talent & Man City Loan Players’ Performance Analyses:

·Enable GPS’s Performance Analysts to:

o Build influential relationships with players’ loan club performance teams to ensure that analysts and coaches consistently engage our players with actionable technical and tactical insights

o Ensure all players’ key technical and tactical development and performance markers are consistently monitored, centrally captured, regularly reported and reviewed

· Provide actionable insights to inform the multidisciplinary review of players’ technical development and performance to ensure they remain on track to achieve their individual development goals

· Manage GPS’s Performance Analysts to:

o Support pre-season training programmes as required at City Football Academy or elsewhere in the UK or overseas

o Provide remote and onsite performance analysis support to loan players as required

o Ensure players maintain effective plan-do-review habits informed by evidence and insights

2-CFG Best Practice:

· Ensure each CFG Club develops an evidence-informed ‘What it take to perform’ model and, consistently uses it to underpin match preparation and review, long-term player development planning, training and support

· Support each CFG Club’s Performance Analysts to consistently engage their coaches with technical and tactical insights

· Support the continuous improvement of CFG Clubs’ performance systems to:

o Sustain an evidence-informed multidisciplinary team approach to player development and performance

o Provide safe training environments on tand off the pitch

o Deliver safe and effective training programmes

o Provide evidence-informed individual player development programmes

o Effectively adapt individuals’ daily training and playing workloads using monitoring data

· Work in collaboration with the Group Heads of Injury Management, Physical Performance and Strategic Initiatives in the design and delivery of professional development programmes for Performance Analysts, Sports Scientists / S&C Coaches and Physiotherapists across CFG

3-Research & Innovation (R&I):

· Support the Head of Strategic Initiatives to:

o Deliver R&I projects that positively influence CFG Clubs’ daily training and coaching

o Efficiently horizon scan and signpost CFG Clubs’ coaches and practitioners toward high-efficacy innovations and new methods
Role specific knowledge, skills and experience:



· Postgraduate degree in a field related to Performance Analysis Skills

· Confident and competent using a broad range of coding methods and software packages such HUDL Sportscode and SBG Matchtracker

· Good understanding of a range of data visualisation packages such as Tableau, QlikSense and Power BI

· Committed leader who empowers people and, enjoys the challenge of managing diverse teams of experts with humility

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels

· Enthusiasm and willingness to be flexible

· Pro-active and engaging style

· Strong ‘can do’ approach

· Remain calm under pressure

· Willing to self-evaluate and work towards continuous improvement

· Process driven with careful attention to detail




· Experience of leading a Performance Analysis Team in in professional football

· Track record of building effective working relationships with coaches and practitioners from a diverse range of backgrounds



·       UEFA B license

·       Knowledge and understanding of ‘What it Takes to Win’ methods and models in a Team sport setting Skills

·       Good understanding if the application of statistical methods to analyse and understand performance

·       Fluent in one or more of the following languages:

o   Spanish

o   Portuguese

o   French

o   Italian


·       Experience of successfully completing performance reviews
