pgirResponsible for delivering a broad scope of performance analysis services to the Senior England team the post holder will work closely with the Lead Analyst and Senior England Coaching and Management team to provide a world leading service to the RFU.

The post-holder will be an expert in the field of Performance Analysis with a proven track record of interacting with elite rugby coaches, players and sports science and medicine staff to enhance the coaching process. He / She will have a clear understanding of the requirements and expectations of an elite international sporting environment and have the experience and knowledge to continually deliver under pressure.

Technically he/she will have a history of using video and data to impact on performance in Rugby and alongside that have demonstrable experience in a variety of key areas including (but not limited to):

  • Quantitative and qualitative tactical analysis
  • Data analysis and visualisation
  • Performance monitoring protocols
  • Feedback and reporting methodologies
  • Collection, integration and manipulation of large data sets
  • Project delivery (internal and external collaborations)
  • Department / service evolution planning
  • Experience of managing an analysis team

This role is fully embedded with the England Senior team and as such requires a commitment to travel to all training camps and international competitions.

The post-holder will operate under a matrix management system reporting to the England Rugby Senior Team Coaching Co-ordinator as an operational head and the Lead Analyst as functional head (PGIR Limited).

Charlton Athletic Academy Performance Analysis Internships

The role will consist of:

  • Filming academy (U9-15) home matches every Sunday and occasional midweek matches.
  • Coding and analysing academy matches for post match analysis using Gamebreaker analysis software.
  • Preparing post match statistical analysis.
  • Helping present post match analysis findings to coaches and players.
  • Maintaining databases, video libraries and uploading of footage to our file-sharing platform.
  • Assisting the U21 and U18 analysts when needed.

Desirable requirements:

  • Studying an undergraduate degree in Sports Science or postgraduate degree in Performance Analysis.

Home matches take place at the club’s training ground in South London (New Eltham) from July through to mid-May.

Position Available:

Video analysis Internship. This would require a commitment of approximately 35 hours per week and a commitment would be required from 26th August until 16th December 2016. The applicant will develop experience in filming matches and training in rugby, hockey and netball as well as preparing footage for presentation by Heads of Sport or team coaches.

PGIR – MSc Performance Analysis Internship

worcesterPGIR are offering season-long internships in partnership with the University of Worcester for the 2016/17 season rugby. The position is a part time commitment, filming and analysing Championship rugby matches. Each successful candidate will be assigned a team to code and analyse for the whole of the season. There will be feedback points during the year when successful candidates will be asked to present to all PGIR/RFU analysts and University of Worcester Staff regarding their team and what insights they have derived from the data. Coding templates and processes will be provided by PGIR and training days will be arranged in advance of the start of the season (September).

Duties:

  • Film Championship matches when required using pre-determined codecs and capture rates
  • Make sure both teams have a copy of all angles filmed
  • Upload the footage to a data repository
  • Perform a team and individual code on a Championship team each weekend using Sportscode
  • Export the coded timeline as an xml file and upload to data repository
  • Perform reliability checks and ensure that the data populating the website is accurate and matches what was collected
  • All footage and coding must be turned around in 36 hours
  • Feedback and present data to PGIR/RFU Analysts and University Staff at agreed feedback points during the season.

Main Roles (not exclusive to, but including):

  • Ability to capture, code and analyse team and individual KPI’s to club’s definitions.
  • Provide video and statistical reports on team and individual performance of London Irish Rugby.
  • Maintain season databases for effective time based reviews.
  • Support the design and delivery of team, individual and unit presentations.
  • Assist with hardware and software issues as the arise.

MSc Performance Analysis Internship

WWFC Job Description – MSc Internship worcesterThe Role

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC are offering a season-long internship in partnership with the University of Worcester for the 2016/17 season. The position requires a 25 hours per week commitment working within the club’s Category 1 Academy beginning in August 2016. The successful candidate will receive a bursary to cover tuition fees on the newly formed MSc Applied Sports Performance Analysis starting in September 2016. The course is specifically designed to enable you to develop the knowledge and skills required to work as a performance analyst in elite sport (further details of the course can be found in the appended leaflet).

Main Duties 

  • Filming and coding of matches and training across Academy teams.
  • Maintenance of video and statistical databases.
  • Involvement in analysis based projects of both team and individual performance.
  • Assist with the implementation of player development plans.

Oxford United Football Club Performance Analysis Internship 2016-2017 Season:

oxford-unitedOxford United Football Club is looking to recruit motivated Interns to join the Club’s expanding Performance Analysis department for the Boys’ Academy and Girls’ Regional Talent Club for the duration of the 2016-2017 Season.

Reporting to the Head of Performance Analysis for Oxford United’s Academy, the successful candidates will be directly responsible to film games (using equipment provided), clip games (using software provided) and deliver presentations for post-match analysis. The successful candidates will work closely with the Head of Performance Analysis for the Academy to fully understand what is expected of them and they will show initiative within a professional football club environment.

The post is unpaid but successful candidates will gain knowledge and experience working with industry standard software which is necessary for future employment within this field of expertise.

Essential Requirements:

  • High level of IT Competency
  • A good understanding of English football
  • Fluent and Literate in English
  • Committed for the time period outlined below

Desirable Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving License
  • Previous experience of Performance Sport Environment (but training will be given)
  • A degree within sport (can be ongoing)

Time commitment – The requirement for interns is to film one game on alternating weekends (usually Saturday or Sunday) from 10am until 2pm. Interns will also need to clip the games in their own time ready for the following Wednesday each week. One evening a week on alternating weeks from 5-6pm to deliver post-match analysis presentation. It is paramount that the same interns are in for the whole season. The duration of the internship would be from the 8th August 2016 to the 8th May 2017.

Leicester City Football Club (LCFC) is providing a full bursary award toward fees for a University of Derby MRes study as part of an ongoing relationship between Derby University Sport and Exercise Science and LCFC.

In this unique opportunity the successful candidates will support the performance analysisand coaching team under the supervision of the Head of Academy Sport Science and Lead Academy Performance Analyst in the collection of data to support the MRes project and answer a performance question specific to the LCFC Academy Performance Plan. Contact time on the MRes and with LCFC will be approximately 30 hours per week but may include weekend and unsociable hours. Subsequently, LCFC will contribute a full fee bursary (£6000.00) to the students MRes fees.

The studies, which will be guided by LCFC Academy Performance Analysis section, will run from August 2016 to June 2017 and aims to examine how performance statistics and video footage are used in a professional football environment. There are a range of topics available for investigation and this would be decided in conjunction with the successful applicant, lead performance analyst and MRes supervisory team. These may include identifying technical drill classification, matchday positional requirements and individual / age specific learning objective classification as part of the ongoing Premier League Elite Player Performance Plan requirements.

The project will involve routine data capture, coding and presentation to football players of various age groups using notational analysis software programs. A comprehensive internal CPD program will be available encompassing the use of specific performance analysis software and strategies for data presentation.
