Job description: Applications are invited for the role of Junior Performance Analyst at Oriam: Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre, providing support to an SPL team and the SFA Women’s National Performance Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing performance analysis support services to an SPL academy including the filming & distribution of home fixtures, alongside the application of analysis methods and processes to the academy players & coaches.  You will also be required to support the development of a performance analysis intern. You will form part of the Sports Science department at Oriam: Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre and be afforded the opportunity to contribute to sport science support services to a range of client groups in high performance sport.

Working directly with an SPL development squad, travelling, filming and providing analysis support to the squad.

Leading and managing the analysis provided to an SPL academy, filming, distributing and analysing weekend fixtures, in accordance with the clubs principles of play. Using the online academy system to engage players in the analysis process and keeping a catalogue of footage and exemplar clips in-line with the principles of play.

Manage the Assistant Junior Analyst, while continually assessing and progressing the analysis support that is provided.

Work in partnership with the SFA’s Women’s National Performance Centre coach to provide analysis support to identified players and teams.

Essential

  • Minimum second class honours degree in a related subject (e.g. Sports Science or Performance Analysis)
  • Have at least 1 years experience working within Performance Analysis at an Elite level ideally within football and at Academy level
  • Autonomous in the use of Analysis Software such as SportsCode Gamebreaker or Focus X2
  • Strong knowledge of IT and AV equipment alongside video camera set-up (e.g. pan, tilt and zoom functions)
  • Experience in filming competitive sport for analysis purposes ideally within football.
  • Experience of providing post-match individual and/or team video edits or statistics to high performance coaches and players
  • Experience of using Mac OS operating systems
  • Experience leading/managing other members of staff
  • Must be willing to work weekends and unsociable hours

Desirable

  • A postgraduate qualification in a discipline relevant to the topic area
  • Knowledge of football & coaching experience
  • Experienced in the use of Hi-Pod or similar products for elevated filming
  • Experience in data analytics and computer programming

Leyton Orient U18’s – Unpaid Internship

leytonLeyton orient football club currently have an unpaid internship running for the 2015/16 season.  The internship will be in supporting the youth team coaching staff, to film all youth team fixtures and to produce coding and statistical analysis to the coaching staff. The successful candidate will be based at the clubs training ground in Chigwell, Essex for 1 day a week and all youth team home fixtures will filmed at the clubs academy ground in Woodford Green, Essex.

The role will consist of:

  • Filming all youth team fixtures.
  • Producing DVD’s for coaching staff.
  • Coding and analysing youth team matches for post match analysis using Dartfish software.
  • Present the findings to coaching staff and players.

We use a rigorous, methodological approach to analyse football, and our employees are pushed hard to achieve their best. Your job will be to watch matches, both live and recorded, and register events using our software system. You will be exposed to football from several different leagues and you will need to learn quickly how to apply our framework.

Watching a game is intensive, repetitive and requires meticulous attention to detail. Your registrations will contribute to our database and each registration can have an important impact on our prediction of the team’s strength in a match. That’s why we need the best analytical eyes for this role, and put a lot of investment into your training. Your registrations will be monitored to make sure you are working within our parameters, and to help you continue to develop your watching skills.

TERMS

This is not a normal day job. We watch leagues from around the world, therefore our office is open 24/7. You will be working from our London officeand it is important that you are aware that there will be a lot of evening work, late nights and early mornings, including every weekend. You should be prepared to change your lifestyle according to this working pattern as the fixture lists dictate. This is a full-time role on a part-time contract, averaging 30 to 40 hours per week. Watchers can earn upto 24K per annum.

Salary is per game when watching games, and per hour for other tasks. There is the prospect of promotion to Junior Analysts and eventually full-time contracts for our most hard-working and dedicated watchers.

  • Filming and coding of home fixtures for an appointed academy age group
  • Provide live coding and feedback to the coaching staff during games
  • Filming and coding of home fixtures for UWE Men’s First Team and Almondsbury UWE First Team and other UWE Sport teams (Netball, basketball, hockey and rugby).
  • After each fixture provide staff with a concise set of clips in line with the identified tactical and technical outcomes.
  • Provide clips and examples of best practice to staff or players as and when required
  • Other appropriate duties as required by BRFC and UWE
