Charlton Athletic Academy Performance Analysis Internships

Charlton Atheltic FCCharlton Athletic is seeking to appoint voluntary part time performance analysts for the 2015-16 season to work within the academy.

The role will consist of:

  • Either filming all U16 games home and away on a Saturday or filming academy (U9-15) home matches every Sunday and occasional midweek matches.
  • Coding and analysing academy matches for post match analysis using Gamebreaker analysis software.
  • Preparing post match statistical analysis.
  • Helping present post match analysis findings to coaches and players.
  • Maintaining databases, video libraries and uploading of footage to our file-sharing platform.
  • Assisting the U21s and U18s analyst when needed.

Desirable requirements:

  • Studying an undergraduate degree in Sports Science or postgraduate degree in Performance Analysis.
  • Reliable towards the role as well as trustworthy with sensitive data.
  • A will to learn and be able to work as part of a team as well as take own initiative.
  • Be comfortable with using IT software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

We use a rigorous, methodological approach to analyse football, and our employees are pushed hard to achieve their best. Your job will be to watch matches, both live and recorded, and register events using our software system. You will be exposed to football from several different leagues and you will need to learn quickly how to apply our framework.

Watching a game is intensive, repetitive and requires meticulous attention to detail. Your registrations will contribute to our database and each registration can have an important impact on our prediction of the team’s strength in a match. That’s why we need the best analytical eyes for this role, and put a lot of investment into your training. Your registrations will be monitored to make sure you are working within our parameters, and to help you continue to develop your watching skills.

TERMS

This is not a normal day job. We watch leagues from around the world, therefore our office is open 24/7. You will be working from our London officeand it is important that you are aware that there will be a lot of evening work, late nights and early mornings, including every weekend. You should be prepared to change your lifestyle according to this working pattern as the fixture lists dictate. This is a full-time role on a part-time contract, averaging 30 to 40 hours per week. Watchers can earn upto 24K per annum.

Salary is per game when watching games, and per hour for other tasks. There is the prospect of promotion to Junior Analysts and eventually full-time contracts for our most hard-working and dedicated watchers.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • To be reliable, meticulous, and honest.

THE INTERVIEW PROCESS

If you are successful, you will be invited for an Assessment Day where you will under-take a series of tests and quizes.

The final stage is an interview. From assessment to the final stage takes around 3 weeks.

Bristol Rovers Academy Performance Analysis Internship

Reporting to the BRFC Head of Academy Performance Analysis and UWE Sports Development Officer for Coach Education and Volunteering, the interns will provide support for the BRFC Academy u9s – u16s age groups, UWE Men’s First Team and Almondsbury UWE First team (The Universities partner club) and other University sports clubs.

With the help of BRFC Head of Academy Performance Analysis, key tasks will include

  • Filming and coding of home fixtures for an appointed academy age group
  • Provide live coding and feedback to the coaching staff during games
  • Filming and coding of home fixtures for UWE Men’s First Team and Almondsbury UWE First Team and other UWE Sport teams (Netball, basketball, hockey and rugby).
  • After each fixture provide staff with a concise set of clips in line with the identified tactical and technical outcomes.
  • Provide clips and examples of best practice to staff or players as and when required
  • Other appropriate duties as required by BRFC and UWE

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable and willing to develop within a professional football environment. Required skills will include an understanding and experience of appropriate performance analysis methods and equipment. An understanding of the game will be beneficial also.

ACCRINGTON AND ROSSENDALE COLLEGE/NELSON FOOTBALL CLUB LEAD PERFORMANCE ANALYST (PAID) FOR 2015/2016 SEASON

Accrington and Rossendale College & Nelson Football Club are offering an opportunity within their coaching department for a Lead Performance Analyst during the 2015/16 season. The successful candidate will deliver high-level performance analysis of both team and player, under the guidance of the coaching team. The successful applicant will gain experience of filming and coding within an elite and forward thinking sporting environment, developing key skills required to work as a performance analyst within a practical setting.

The role will include, but not be restricted to, and Category 1 Boys & Girls matches for Accrington and Rossendale College (Home Only) and 1st team matches for Nelson FC (Home and Away)

Accrington and Rossendale College are the only Category 1 College in the North West for Boys (U19’s) and Girls (U21’s) Football and have achieved a good amount of success over the past 5 years. Matches are on Wednesday afternoons (2PM KO).

Nelson FC are steeped in history and were the first English side to beat Real Madrid away from home and also won away at Old Trafford in the same season. They currently play their games in the North West Counties Premier Division (Tier 5) and also compete in the FA Cup and FA Vase competitions. Matches are on Saturday afternoons (3PM KO) and some midweek evening matches (7:45PM KO).

The post will be a paid role which will include some evenings and all Saturdays and be based at Accrington and Rossendale College.

The pay structure is as below:

£25 – Film Home Game & Create Match Highlights

£35 – Film Away Game & Create Match Highlights

£75 – Fully analyse and code match linked to Individual and Team KPI’s and create post match presentation to deliver to coaches and/or players

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To fulfil all analysis needs of Nelson FC/ Accrington and Rossendale College pre-match, match-day, post-match, longitudinal and educational.

Blackpool FCBlackpool Football Club are looking for a new Head of Academy Performance Analysis to join our expanding Performance Analysis department on a part time role.

Enthusiastic and proactive, you will have a positive team-oriented attitude and will be able to work a minimum of 13 hours a week. A commitment and passion for development of our players and in the performance analysis field is essential to keep the department at the leading edge of youth football analysis. A good knowledge of football is essential and previous experience working as an analyst or coach is desirable.

The role:

  • Recruit and manage assistant analysts to work within the academy.
  • Be responsible for all pre, post and live analysis of the U18s both in relation to matches and also best practice training sessions.
  • Liaise with the Academy manager and Youth Team Manager to create    presentations for good practice in each of the academies playing philosophies.
  • Produce individual match and training clips.
  • Assist the Head of Performance Analysis with pre and post match analysis as well as home match days.
  • Have the understanding to use SportsCode Gamebreaker, Microsoft Office and online scouting networks to produce work of the highest standard.

Hours: 

Minimum: 13 Hours p/w

The position is a part-time, voluntary role and is suited to an aspiring Performance Analyst who is looking to gain further experience in football. Chatham Town F.C is a semi-professional football club based in Chatham, Kent. Our 1st team play in the Ryman South league and our Under 21 Development Squad play in the Ryman South under 21 league.

The Under 21 side is a fundamental component to the success of the club, with 21 players representing the 1st team from the under 21 squad in the last three years. Having a Performance Analyst join our management team is a key part needed to help our player’s progress and develop in the correct way.

Location: The Sports Ground, Maidstone Road, Chatham, Kent ME4 6LR

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To film all matches
  • To fulfil the analysis needs of the U21’s squad pre-match, match-day, post-match
  • Assist players in achieving their 6 week individual player development challenges

International Polo Academy (IPA) Paid Internship

international-polo-academyThe IPA is on the search for sport enthusiasts who would like to broaden their experience in the sport analysis sector. We are currently looking for 1-2 analysts who would help with live tagging polo matched for the UK Gold Cup. The tournament is set to start tomorrow (23rd of June) and runs until the 19th of July.

Ideally candidates will be local to the Cowdray Polo Park grounds (in Midhurst). Live tagging will be undertaken with Dartfish, so it is essential that candidates have a working understanding of the software. Candidates with experience of live tagging with other software packages such as SportsCode will also be considered.

Candidates will be required to live tag matches on site, and will also get the opportunity to tag drone footage post-match. Sport analysis is a growing sector and the company has seen an increased interest in data analysis in polo. These are exciting times at the company, and opportunities to travel to other countries to tag the Spanish, French and American seasons may become available.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Live tagging on site.
  • Uploading tagged events to team and umpire Dartfish TV channels.
  • Post-match tagging of drone footage.
  • Uploading drone footage highlights to team and umpire Dartfish TV channels.
  • Upload live and drone match tags to cloud storage.

Successful candidate will have:

  • Completed a Sports Science undergraduate degree, with modules covering sport analysis. Candidates who are currently, or have recently completed an MSc course are also encouraged to apply.
  • A good working knowledge of tagging, ideally with Dartfish, is fundamental.
  • Although ideal, no previous experience or knowledge of polo is necessary. Candidates must however have a key understanding of team sport tactics.
  • Candidates must have a strong work ethic, and be proactive in their approach.
  • Candidates must also be prepared to work long and unsociable hours, as well as weekends.

The role will consist of training analysis, pre- and post-match duties, as well as a match day role, all of which will aid in the provision of services to the first team manager, coaching team and players. The chosen applicant will gain valuable training and experience in an elite performance environment, and will have the opportunity to apply their current knowledge within an applied setting.

Opportunities for development will include:

  • Responsibility for the filming, archiving and analysis of training sessions, for use in technical and tactical feedback sessions involving the manager, coaches and players.
  • Assistance in the post match workflows, with the chance to progress such workflows using their own knowledge and ideas.
  • Involvement in opposition player profiling and opposition data analysis, again with the flexibility to apply their own ideas with such tasks.
  • The processing and analysis of OPTA performance data.
  • Filming and utilising SportsCode Elite software, both in training and match situations.
  • Training and use of Tableau data visualisation software to analyse and present data.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Completed an undergraduate degree in Sports Science or related discipline, although postgraduates looking for experience in the field are equally encouraged to apply.
  • A good working knowledge of SportsCode, in particular in the ways it can be utilised to capture, code and database footage.
  • Previous experience in managing large data sets, with high competency in using Excel (and preferably Numbers) a minimum requirement.
  • A good understanding of football, and a strong interest to work within this environment.
  • The ability to communicate and work closely with both the coaching team and other departments at Leicester City FC.
  • Previous experience of working in a sports setting is advantageous.
  • A strong work ethic, a proactive approach, and a drive for excellence.

The internship will commence on Monday 27th July 2015 (or as close as possible) and will continue through to the end of the season (approx. mid-May 2016). The successful candidate will gain valuable experience throughout the season, with increased responsibility and good CPD available at the club. This role will provide opportunity to develop the relevant skills to gain future employment within professional sport.

The position requires applicants to be available at the training ground for an average of four days per week.

A set bursary package is available contribute to post-graduate study, or to offset living expenses.
