Job Description

Loughborough Students RFC-Assistant Performance Analyst

This role is a voluntary opportunity that may well suit university/ college students or even those in full/ part time employment. Those taken on would ideally have aspirations to go into the field of performance analysis and would be given full training in the use of hardware, software and practical skills needed as an analyst. The position requires a 25 hours per week commitment working within the club’s Category 1 Academy beginning in August 2016. The successful candidate will receive a bursary to cover tuition fees on the newly formed MSc Applied Sports Performance Analysis starting in September 2016. Oxford United Football Club Performance Analysis Internship 2016-2017 Season:

oxford-unitedOxford United Football Club is looking to recruit motivated Interns to join the Club’s expanding Performance Analysis department for the Boys’ Academy and Girls’ Regional Talent Club for the duration of the 2016-2017 Season.

Reporting to the Head of Performance Analysis for Oxford United’s Academy, the successful candidates will be directly responsible to film games (using equipment provided), clip games (using software provided) and deliver presentations for post-match analysis. The successful candidates will work closely with the Head of Performance Analysis for the Academy to fully understand what is expected of them and they will show initiative within a professional football club environment.

The post is unpaid but successful candidates will gain knowledge and experience working with industry standard software which is necessary for future employment within this field of expertise.

Essential Requirements:

Desirable Requirements:

Interns will also need to clip the games in their own time ready for the following Wednesday each week. One evening a week on alternating weeks from 5-6pm to deliver post-match analysis presentation. It is paramount that the same interns are in for the whole season. The duration of the internship would be from the 8th August 2016 to the 8th May 2017.

Leicester City Football Club (LCFC) is providing a full bursary award toward fees for a University of Derby MRes study as part of an ongoing relationship between Derby University Sport and Exercise Science and LCFC.

In this unique opportunity the successful candidates will support the performance analysisand coaching team under the supervision of the Head of Academy Sport Science and Lead Academy Performance Analyst in the collection of data to support the MRes project and answer a performance question specific to the LCFC Academy Performance Plan. Contact time on the MRes and with LCFC will be approximately 30 hours per week but may include weekend and unsociable hours. Subsequently, LCFC will contribute a full fee bursary (£6000.00) to the students MRes fees.

The studies, which will be guided by LCFC Academy Performance Analysis section, will run from August 2016 to June 2017 and aims to examine how performance statistics and video footage are used in a professional football environment. There are a range of topics available for investigation and this would be decided in conjunction with the successful applicant, lead performance analyst and MRes supervisory team. These may include identifying technical drill classification, matchday positional requirements and individual / age specific learning objective classification as part of the ongoing Premier League Elite Player Performance Plan requirements.

The project will involve routine data capture, coding and presentation to football players of various age groups using notational analysis software programs. The role is ideal for current students wishing to develop within Performance Analysis and will provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in an applied setting. You will be heavily involved in the filming and distribution of training and match footage, and will gain important roles and responsibilities into areas such as opposition previews and post-match analyses, integration and interpretation of GPS and heart-rate data and conducting longitudinal studies of team performances as your experience and confidence grows. Expert training and mentorship is provided throughout and you will be invited to all in-house training to aid your professional development.

Current enrolment on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within a relevant subject area is essential. You may also have a successful record and experience of working with sports teams and a history of volunteering. Prior knowledge and experience within rugby, working with video cameras, computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and analysis software will be considered advantageous.

Successful candidates should expect to start in June 2016 and work with the club for the duration of the rugby season. JOB DESCRIPTION

The role runs alongside the MSc Sports Performance Analysis at the University of Chichester, and is under the guidance of the club’s Head of Performance Analysis. The role assists the Performance Analysts in supporting the needs of the First Team during training, pre-match preparations, match day analysis and post-match analysis.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITLIES

1.  To ensure all first team training sessions are recorded to meet the needs of the Performance Analysis department and First Team Coaching staff

This is a voluntary placement with the applicant gaining experience of filming and coding within a semi-professional sporting environment, along with developing key skills required to work as a performance analyst within a practical setting. We will offer full training and support throughout the internship and the breadth of practical experiences to offer the successful applicant an invaluable start to their career in performance analysis. The successful candidate will work with the senior squad during the 2016/17 season.

The Role:

The internship will require the successful applicant to complete 8-10 hours minimum per week including Saturdays (both home and away fixtures) from late June 2016 – April 2017.

Job Overview:

The post-holder will be working under the direction of Bristol’s Senior Performance Analyst and Academy Manager, helping provide information to measure and monitor the performance and progression of Senior & Age group Academy players.

They will be responsible for running the A League programme plus centralising a database hub of footage and reports on the dual registration players, all in line with the senior coding process.

The role will also involve assisting the first team on match days, filming of training during the week and any designated projects allocated by the senior performance analyst.

Senior Performance Analyst – Pathway Development Rugby Football Union

pgirWorking within the International Player Development Department (Pathway) of the RFU, the post holders primary role and responsibilities will be providing and managing world leading Performance Analysis support to all the England age group teams and RFU National Academy. The post-holder will also manage a team of 3-4 analysts who will work in age groups throughout the Pathway.

Job Overview

Working under the direction of the Head of International Player Development the post holder will provide pertinent information to effectively help measure and monitor the performance and progression of age group and National Academy players through the pathway and ensure they are aligned with the playing requirements of the Senior team.

The post-holder must have a proven track record of engaging with international rugby coaches and sports science staff and be confident working across a range of areas such as player performance plans, developing performance monitoring protocols, reporting, integration and collection and manipulation of multiple data sets as well as having direct experience of managing a team of analysts in professional sport and preferably with experience at international rugby level.

The post-holder will operate under a matrix management system reporting to Head of International Player Development as an operational head and Michael Hughes as functional head (PGIR Limited).

As well as undertaking his/her primary duties as a Senior Performance Analyst and ensuring that the delivery of the Performance Analysis service effectively meets it’s commitment to coaches and players, the post-holder in consultation and agreement with all pathway coaches and managers will continue to develop analysis tools and systems to assist in the identification, prediction and monitoring process for age group and National academy players.

  • Create performance protocols and key performance indicator monitoring for the England age group and National Academy players to ensure they are aligned with the Senior Team playing requirements.
  • To provide information on England Age group and National Academy players to appropriate International Player Development Department staff.

Exeter University Rugby Club:  Performance Analysis – Workplace Experience

Exeter University Rugby Club are currently recruiting for work place students for season 2016 / 2017 within the Performance Analysis department. This is an exciting opportunity for College / University students or even those who are in full or part time employment to come in and assist with Performance Analysis duties on a flexible basis.

The Role:

  • Filming training & Capture of training and games set by Performance Analyst

  • Work on mini projects reporting back on general areas of the game and training
  • Develop your skills set in other areas of Performance Analysis as required by Exeter University Rugby Club
